Find the saved MP4 before downloading it again
Identify which app started the save
A browser download, a DownXVideo extension download, and the X app’s own Save action can use different locations. Continue in the same browser or app that handled the action.
Open the browser downloads list
Check the browser that started the action. Its downloads list can show the filename, progress, completion state, blocked status, and an action to reveal or open the file.
Confirm that a download actually started
If a website result only opened and played the source media, the browser may not have saved a file yet. Use the player, Share, long-press, or save command offered by that browser.
Check the device location
Use Files on iPhone or iPad, Files or Downloads on Android, and the reveal-in-folder action on Windows or macOS. Do not assume another browser profile uses the same folder.
Review browser and extension settings
A browser can use a custom folder or follow a managed-device policy. The DownXVideo extension can use that default, add a subfolder under Downloads, or ask for a location on every download.
Parse again only when needed
If no download started or an old source link expired, return to the original public post and parse it again. Repeated downloads can create duplicate filenames rather than reveal the first file.
Start with the app that handled the save
Three actions that look similar can lead to different places:
- DownXVideo website: the browser handles the result. It can save the file, show a save picker, or open the source media for playback according to the current browser and delivery path.
- DownXVideo extension: the extension starts a browser-managed download using the save-location mode selected in its popup.
- X app Save: this is an X app and mobile operating system workflow. It does not use the DownXVideo website or extension setting.
Open the downloads list in the same browser that handled the action. If you used the X app’s own Save command, check that app and your device file manager instead of assuming it shares the browser folder.

First confirm whether the browser saved a file
The DownXVideo website uses a Download action, but the browser can still save the file or open the source media in a player. Playback alone does not guarantee that a local file was created.
Open the browser’s downloads list before repeating the action. It can show whether a transfer is running, completed, blocked, canceled, or missing entirely. Find the video on iPhone or iPad
- In Safari, open its Downloads list if the download indicator is present.
- Open Files, choose Browse, and look for Downloads under iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or the location selected in Safari settings.
- If that location does not match, open Settings > Apps > Safari > Downloads or search Files for the recent MP4.
- To add the file to Photos, open it in Files, choose Share, and select Save Video when that action is available.

- Open the menu in the browser that started the download and choose Downloads or its equivalent.
- Open the device’s Files app and check Downloads and Recent.
- If the MP4 opens in Files but not in a Gallery app, wait for indexing or move or copy it to a folder that your chosen gallery displays.
- Review the browser download setting when Files shows a different folder from the one you expected.

Find the video on Windows
Open the browser downloads list and use its folder, reveal, or Show in folder action. The MP4 often goes to the user’s Downloads folder, but a browser can use a custom location, ask where to save every file, or follow a work or school device policy.
If the entry is present but incomplete, let the transfer finish or read the visible browser error. If no entry exists, return to the result and check whether the source media opened for playback without being saved.
Find the video on macOS
Open the browser downloads list and use Show in Finder or the equivalent reveal action. The configured Downloads folder is common, but Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, separate browser profiles, and ask-every-time settings can point elsewhere.

Choose where DownXVideo extension downloads go
Open the extension popup and use Save location. The default mode is Browser default; the other two modes are explicit choices.
